For Families

Seven steps, in order.

  1. A conversation, not a pitch

    We meet with the athlete and family, walk through what NIL is, what the rules allow at their level, and exactly how Regent works. Everything is on the table before anything is signed.

  2. A clear agreement

    Plain-English representation terms, reviewed together, with a parent or guardian alongside any athlete under eighteen.

  3. The story gets built

    A media kit, a cleaned-up public profile, and a short list of the businesses and brands that fit the athlete. Built while the season is happening.

  4. Deals, one at a time

    We bring each opportunity to the athlete with the number, the deliverables, and the eligibility check already done. The athlete decides. We handle the rest.

  5. Every detail, handled

    Agreements, deliverables, and the business side of every deal are managed for the family, on time and in writing.

  6. Built to last

    Regular check-ins, written statements, and a plan that is revisited as the athlete grows. The relationship does not end when a deal does.

  7. College and beyond

    When the athlete moves up, we move with them, with the first college deals lined up before move-in and the same team beside them into the professional ranks.

Athletes rarely lose money for lack of talent. They lose it because no one taught them how money works before it arrived. Regent was founded by a former financial advisor, and financial education is part of what we do for every athlete we represent.

Eligibility

Every rule, handled before it reaches the athlete.

High school associations, the NCAA, conferences, and schools each have their own name, image, and likeness rules, and they change often. Every opportunity Regent brings has already been reviewed against the rules that apply to that athlete, at that level, at that school. We walk every family through them in person at the first meeting.

Questions Families Ask

Common questions.

Does my athlete need representation?

Not every athlete does, and we will tell you honestly if yours does not. Where it matters is anything that touches eligibility, a college compliance office, or a business that wants rights to an athlete's name and image. That is where experience is worth having in the room.

How is Regent paid?

A percentage of what the athlete earns, agreed in writing before anything is signed and paid separately by the business. No retainers, no signing fees, no hidden fees. We walk through it in full at the first meeting.

Can a deal affect eligibility?

It can, if it is done wrong. Every opportunity Regent brings has been reviewed against the rules that apply to the athlete, and every required disclosure is filed. We would rather pass on a deal than put a season at risk.

What about taxes?

NIL income is taxable to the athlete, including the value of goods and services. We make sure families understand that from the start and recommend a qualified tax professional.

What sports do you work with?

All of them. Our relationships run deepest in football and basketball, but the rules, the businesses, and the process are the same across every sport the MHSAA and NCAA sanction.

What is Regent's role in recruiting?

Regent is the athlete's representative, and college programs and collectives work with us directly on the name, image, and likeness side of their recruitment. We build the athlete's profile and presentation, take the calls, get every offer in writing, and help the family compare them. The decision on where to play is always the athlete's and the family's.
